Your Data Reserve gives you peace of mind so that even if your broadband service has been shaped because other members of your household have used up your plan allowance, you will still be able to access the internet at your normal speeds by accessing your Data Reserve
When you enable your Data Reserve, this means that 20% of your peak data will be reserved each month. So if you go over your usage allowance and your internet speed is slowed, you can turn your speed back on during either of your peak or offpeak periods.
Here’s How The Data Reserve Feature Works
- Let’s say you have a 3GB peak allowance
- Upon activation, 20% of this allowance, 0.6GB, is allocated to your Data Reserve
- This leaves 2.4GB of peak data for normal use
- When you decide to enable your Data Reserve, it takes about 40 minutes for this to be set up.
- Once you have enabled your Data Reserve, you have the choice of either TURNING it ON or OFF.
- When you turn your reserved data on or off, this will happen immediately.
Important Note: When you turn your Data Reserve ON, it is important that you select a time period for how long you want to access your reserve, because your Data Reserve allowance will be used first before your normal peak and offpeak allowances.
Benefits of Using Data Reserve
- Customers who regularly get shaped, can take comfort that by having a 20% peak data allowance set aside, they can have full speed when they need it most.
- The best time to use your Data Reserve feature is when you are being shaped (after the kids have gamed away 80% of your monthly peak data).
- You can TURN OFF your Data Reserve if you need to before your TURN ON time period expires, which is effective immediately.
Want To TURN ON Your Data Reserve? Once your Data Reserve feature is enabled, you can start using this feature immediately. You also need to select how long you would like to turn your Data Reserve ON for.
Want To TURN OFF Your Data Reserve? Once your activation is completed (your Data Reserve is 'ENABLED'), 20% of your peak data allowance will be reserved. However, you will not be able to access your 20% reserved allowance, until you ‘TURN ON’ the Data Reserve feature.
